Racecard

Uses

The main function of the racecard is to list each race. The race’s information follows a general format whatever the race type or distance. All the information on the card should help you pick a likely winner rather than going by name or colour!

The racecard is your guide to the day at the racecourse. It will supply you with course maps, where to eat and drink, do’s and don’ts and other course information. Some racecards also have a guide to help you read the race information.

The Race information

Form
A horse's race record.

Time
Start time of the race (not the parade etc)

Prize
Collective amount of money the placed horses will win (split between the winning connections of each placed horse, i.e. owner, trainer and jockey of each horse).

Distance
How long the race is

Weight
The collective weight of the jockey and equipment the horse will be carrying.

Jockey
The rider of the horse

Horse's Age 
Age of the horse (note Flat race horses are generally younger than Jump horses)

Jockey's colours
Belonging to the owner, the colours are the specific colour and pattern of the shirt and helmet the jockey will be wearing. No two silks are the same colour/pattern combination.

Previous Positions
List’s the positions the horse finished in its most recent races. A dash (-) separates the previous positions in this season from last season and a slash (/) separates this seasons previous positions from a non raced season.

1 to 4 is the position it was placed in,
0 means not placed,
P means pulled up (did not finish)
R means refused,
F means fell over,
U means the rider was unseated.

Registered name of the horse

Trainer
Current trainer of the horse

Owner
Current owner of the horse
