Racecourse Features and Location

Set against that stunning and dramatic backdrop of Cleeve Hill, Cheltenham is the hallowed turf of National Hunt, or Jump Racing - quite simply, every jump jockey, trainer and owner dreams of winning at Cheltenham.

Every March Cheltenham racecourse becomes the focus of the sporting calendar, the crowds flock to the course in their thousands - and these include a mass invasion of Irish racing fans.  The atmosphere has to be experienced to be believed - its electric.

But its not just about the Festival meeting in March - Cheltenham plays a very large part in the racing calendar with more than 100 races during Cheltenham's season from October to May - almost half of these are covered by Channel 4 and the remainder by satellite and cable.

Race Sponsorship

Being a sponsor at Cheltenham means that your company or brand will be seen by spectators on the course and by millions of viewers on both terrestrial and satellite TV.  There is no such thing as a 'small' race at Cheltenham.

But there are other ways that your company can benefit from the unique 'Cheltenham Experience'.  Being a race sponsor at Cheltenham says something rather special about your company.  Choosing to associate your company with Cheltenham, means it will be associated with the same qualities as Cheltenham itself; exceptionally high standards and a certain, indefinable style.

Our Audiences:
- 65% of spectators are ABC1s - even in the cheaper enclosures
- 80% of the average crowd is under 55 and 25% are under 25
- 60% of spectators are regular visitors, attending over four times each season
- 75% travel from some distance to be at Cheltenham, taking in the South west, Home Counties and London, West Midlands and, of course, Gloucestershire.
- Over 350,000 spectators attend Cheltenham during the season.  The introduction of a fourth day to the Festival in 2005 has enabled this to rise yet further.
- Unique to Cheltenham, up to 20% of the audience may be from Ireland or of Irish extraction living in the UK, and are a valuable part of the magic of Cheltenham.

TV Audience Profile:
- The Channel 4 viewing figure for Cheltenham averages just over 1 million, peaking at up to twice that figure for Cheltenham's flagship - the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup Day.
- The programme attracts a regular cumulative monthly audience in excess of 10 million and up to 20% of the available viewing audience.
- The viewing audience is split 60:40 in favour of men, despite an average daytime viewing ratio of 45:55, showing the appeal of live sport.
The satellite challens of Racing UK and At the Races achieve audiences of up to 250,000 with a cumulative reach of 1.5 million viewers a month.

What's in it for you and your Company?

Sponsorship at Cheltenham is as flexible and adaptable as you want it to be, to meet your specific corporate objectives and, of course, your budget.

Sponsorship of a race, for example, can vary from £5,000 for an event covered by satellite television, to £15,000 for televised events, and up to twenty times that amount for major international features.

All our sponsorships include a generic formula shown below.  There are sponsorship and promotional opportunities at every one of our events.

. Your company's name, product or brand in the title of the race; e.g. The Royal & SunAlliance Steeplechase.  This title is carried by all major national mewspapers, new media channels and television, as well as our own literature.
. A trophy for you to present to the owner of the winning horse and additional mementoes for trainer and rider.
. Branding opportunities through racecard and closed circuit television Advertising, perimeter signage positions, winning horse blankets and saddlecloths.
. Space for product displays, launches and sales events, sampling and research.
. A dedicated media service targeted at achieving best coverage among the racing press of Cheltenham's key sponsored events.
. Complimentary racecards for you and your guests.
. A hospitality suite for the entertainment of your guests, together with an allocation of complimentary admissions to 10% of the value of your sponsorship fee.

Other Opportunities

In addition, or instead of sponsoring a race, your company can benefit from the unique 'Cheltenham Experience' in other way s too.  You could reach our many thousands of predominantly ABC1 visitors, for example, thorugh an exhibition stand.  Or get your message across on perimeter signage, or in one of our publications.  You could event consider advertising on our website.  And if you have ideas of your own, just let us know, and we'll do our best to accommodate them.

What do our Current Sponsors Say?

"We have a long and valued relationship with Cheltenham.  Being part of the very special atmosphere, combined with the enthusiasm of the Irish racing supporters, makes Cheltenham unique amongst all of the sponsorships we undertake.  We are delighted with The Festival's extension to a fourth day which wil allow more people to come and experience the event and enjoy a pint of the black stuff."
