Racecourse Features and Location

No Racecourse in the world has a more historic setting than Chester’s Roodee. It was here that the Roman legions arrived to build their fortress Deva, one of the major ports of Medieval England, and in the days of the Roman occupation the River Dee washed up to the very walls where today, thousands stand to cheer on the winner of the Chester Cup.

It was in the 16th Century that Chester officially began to organise horseracing on the Roodee, making it the oldest Racecourse in the country. Located just outside the city walls, on the south-west side of the City, the Racecourse is signed from the City by-pass.

Race Sponsorship

Chester attracts large crowds of racegoers - average raceday figures are 20,000+.  We are proud to partner with some of the North West's most prestigious companies in exposing their brand to our racegoers, as well as to a national viewing audience of 800,000 on a mid-week fixture, or over 1.3 million on a Saturday fixture.

Options vary from titling a race, on-course branding, racecard advertising to blitzing the entire racecourse - owning a day or 2-day festival.  Marketing and public relations support is available to all our sponsors.

We aim to meet and exceed your expectations from sponsorship.  For more information please call Melanie Simm on 01244 304615.
