Racecourse Features and Location

Leicester Racecourse, home to the Listed Leicestershire Stakes, was established in 1882 when it was transferred from Victoria Park.  Some very famous horses have raced on the famous turf, such as Zilzal, Diminuendo and Time Charter on the flat and jumping stars such as Cheltenham Gold Cup winners Silver Buck and Burrough Hill Lad plus Grand National winners Grittar, Corbiere and Seagram.

Over the past 10 years the racecourse has seen major investments with a new state of the art Grandstand, incorporating the panoramic Nelson Restaurant which seats up to 250 guests.  In 2006 the new spectacular Club Room was opened which includes a private raised viewing terrace.  Leicester now boasts some of the most up to date modern facilities for a racecourse of its kind and also hosts a comprehensive professional conference centre.

How to get to Leicester:

By Car:
Leicester Racecourse is on the A6, 2 miles south of Leicester City Centre, approximately 5 miles from M1 junction 21, with direct link via outer ringroad.

By Train:
Leicester Railway Station is only 2 miles away from Leicester Racecourse.

By Air:
Helicopters only by prior arrangement with the Racecourse.  Fixed-wing aircraft, Stoughton Airfield.

Parking for Cars and Coaches:
Free of charge.
