Racecourse Features and Location
Proud to be voted Racecourse for 16 consecutive years by the Racegoers Club, York delivers quality racing throughout the flat season – an impressive number of the UK’s Pattern Races as well as several of the most prestigious handicap races in Europe.
Racing at York dates back to the Roman Emperor Severus, moving to its current Knavesmire site in the eighteenth century where the infamous Highwayman Dick Turpin was hanged. The racecourse boasts award winning modern stands, 2 Listed buildings and a recently refurbished champagne terrace adjacent to a classic galloping track.
York Racecourse is easy to reach from all the UK’s larger centres of population.
By Road: There is ample car and coach parking which is free on the majority of racedays. The Course is visable from the A64 dual carriageway and in turn is connected to the A1, which benefits from a new motorway link to the M1 itself.
By Rail: Fast and frequent rail services take as little as 1 hour 52 minutes from London’s Kings Cross and some 2.5 hours from Edinburgh. Manchester and Birmingham are also direct. (The course is 1 mile from the station and City Centre and a First Bus raceday shuttle runs every 20 minutes).
By Air: Leeds/Bradford, Doncaster, Tees Valley and Manchester International airports are within sensible transfer times and Leeds Bradford offers a bus service direct to York.

Sponsorship of non-terrestrial televised races at York starts from £4,500 + VAT and televised races from £7,000 + VAT. For details of the above sponsorship packages and costs please contact James Brennan - tel 01904 683940 or email as below.
