Racecourse Features and Location

Ayr is Scotland's only Grade One racecourse, situated near the superb Ayrshire coastline, famous for its' golf and Robert Burns pilgrims.  Ayr hosts year-round racing, with National Hunt and Flat action during the season.  Home for over 100 years to the Ayr Gold Cup Festival, featuring Europe's richest sprint handicap the totesport Ayr Gold Cup, Ayr also plays host to another of the major headline raes in the UK Racing Calendar, the Coral Scottish Grand National.

About the Track
Flat: A left-handed galloping flat oval track of 1m 4f, with a 4f run-in, a very fair track with long straights and easy bends, it suits the long-striding galloper.  The straight six furlongs is essentially flat.
National Hunt:  An oval 1m4f, with a 210 yard run-in.  Relatively flat and one of the fastest tracks in Great Britain.

Getting Here:
By road:  The recently upgraded M77 links Ayr with Glasgow, which is only 35 miles away and Edinburgh is a 90 mile drive.
By rail:  There is a regular, reliable rail service from Ayr to all parts of the country (via Glasgow), and the station is less than five minutes by road from the course.
By sea:  Ferries run from Troon - only a 15 minute drive away - to Belfast, and there are also ferry links from Ciarnryan and Stranraer to Ireland.
By air:  Prestwick International Airport is only 10 minutes from Ayr and offers flights to a variety of destinations including London, Cardiff, Bournemouth, Dublin and all over Europe.
