X-Factor Finalists Racenight. Tonight's racing will be followed by live performances by X-Factor finalists Hope and Niki Evans. This is the first of Pontefract's popular evening fixtures. The feature race is the £15,000 Youngsters Conditions Stakes over 6 furlongs. The supporting card is led by the Security Services Handicap, won in 2007 by Colorado Rapid. Off the track there will be lots to entertian with children's rides and the Steve Love Band providing the music. First race 6.30pm. The seventeenth annual Countryside Family Fun Day is an established feature in the Newmarket Racing Calenday and in 2008 it promises to be better than ever. There will be plenty of interactive activities for all ages including archery, a Bucking Bronco, mask making, face painting and much more. There will be live displays from Birds of Prey, Hearing Dogs, hounds and the Top Lodge Trio, Europe's leading dog handlers who perform Dog Dancing. Pontefract
It is Irish Night at Pontefract Racecourse with live Irish music, shamrocks and guinness-a-plenty! There will be Guinness promotions and prizes to be won in the racecard competitions. The pick of the six races is the third running of the £30,000 Listed Weatherbys Pipalong Stakes which last year saw a thrilling finish between Expensive and Mont Etoile. The stayers compete in the Tony Bethell Memorial Handicap and classy handicappers line up for the Wakefield Renault Handicap - this race has been won for the past two seasons by subsequent Cambridgeshire winners Formal Decree and Pipedreamer.
