The Road to the Kentucky Derby Conditions Stakes is restricted to three-year-olds with points on offer to qualify for the Kentucky Derby.
It takes place over a mile at Kempton Park in early March and was introduced in 2018 with victory going to Gronkowski.
Although he did not run in the Kentucky Derby he did finish runner-up in the Belmont Stakes.

Three-year-old horses can compete in the flat horse race known as the Road to the Kentucky Derby Conditions Stakes.
It takes held in March and covers a distance of one mile (1,609 metres) at Kempton Park.

Famous Road to the Kentucky Derby Conditions Stakes Winners
Gronkowski gave the race an exciting launch in 2018 when winning for Jeremy Noseda and Jamie Spencer. He followed up in the Listed Burradon Stakes at Newcastle before joining Chad Brown in the United States. He was a long shot for the Belmont Stakes where he ran the race of his life to chase home Justify, beaten only a length and three-quarters. Although he never won another race, Gronkowski did finish runner-up in the 2019 Dubai World Cup behind Thunder Snow.
Maximus I beat four rivals in 2020 and would spend the rest of his racing career in the far East. His best efforts were two seconds in valuable Sha Tin handicap races in 2021 in 2022.
2021 winner Highland Avenue did manage to follow up in the Listed Feilden Stakes at Newmarket, beating stable companion Secret Protector and the highly-rated Royal Champion. He then chased home Mostahdaf in the Heron Stakes at Sandown before losing his form. Blue Trail (2022) was placed in a Goodwood handicap but showed improved form at Meydan in February 2023 when romping to a wide-margin handicap success.

Gronkowski (6-4), Jahbath (8-13), Maximus I (7-4), Highland Avenue (4-9) and Blue Trail (5-4) have all justified market support. Gronkowski (101) was the highest rated winner to date, just 1lb higher than Maximus I and Jahbath (100).
Three of the five winners came from stall five but it is too early to formulate any other betting trends.
