If you are wondering “where can I find horses who are wearing first-time visors?” we have you covered.
A visor is very similar to blinkers but has a slight slit cut in the side of them. The slit of the visor headgear stops a horse from panicking if it can’t see the other runners. The slit provides the reassurance that there are other runners but maintains the focus of going forward.
Our horse race stats are updated regularly and pull in all the racehorses who have the application of a visor for the 1st time.

What Are Horse Racing Visors?
Visors are usually made of leather or plastic cups placed on either side of a horse’s eyes.
The visor is attached to a bridle or to an independent hood.
Check out our horse racing visor video to learn more about visors.
Visors have a peephole cut in the back of the cup and the big difference is that they’re less restrictive than blinkers.
What is the difference between blinkers and visors?
The main difference between visors and blinkers in horse racing are visors have a slight slit cut in the side of them.
The slit is designed to prevent a horse from panicking if it can’t see the other runners.
Blinkers and visors in horse racing are designed to keep horses focused on what is in front, encouraging them to pay attention to the race rather than distractions such as crowds.
Visors are used to help a horse settle before a race.
How Do You Know a Horse is Wearing a Visor for the First Time?
If the horse is wearing a visor for the first time then this is indicated as v1 on the horse racecards.
If a horse is wearing visors (but has previously worn a visor) then there will be a v next to the weight it is carrying.
Here is an example of a horse racing racecard which shows “v1” beside the racehorse weight to highlight the horse is running in visors for the 1st time.
The v1 symbol indicates visor and the number one indicates it is the first time wearing the application of visors.
