Lightning Novices’ Chase

In Great Britain, horses must be five years old or older to compete in the Grade 2 Lightning Novices’ Chase steeplechase.

There are twelve fences to leap during the race, which is raced at Doncaster over a distance of around 2 miles and a half furlong (2 miles and 78 yards, or 3,290 metres).

The novice chasers’ race is slated to take place in late January or early February each year.
