Floodlit Racecourses

We have all the best horse racing tracks if you are looking for which racecourses have evening races under the floodlights.

Floodlit horse racing gives racegoers to attend racecourses in the evening after work.

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has announced that additional floodlit fixtures will be added to the horse racing fixtures due to the success of floodlit horse racing under the floodlights for evening races.

If you are a horse racing fan who likes attending the racecourse venues, check out our post on all UK horse racing track guides or all Irish racing track guides.

Our Floodlit Racecourses guide explains all the leading racecourses with the floodlighting facility.

Floodlit Racecourses List

Here is the full list of Floodlit racecourses:

  • Kempton Park Racecourse
  • Wolverhampton Racecourse
  • Southwell Racecourse
  • Dundalk Racecourse
  • Chelmsford City Racecourse
  • Lingfield Racecourse
  • Newcastle Racecourse

Southwell Race Course

Southwell race course is the first floodlit racecourse on our list, with their amazing LED floodlights supplied by Musco.

At night time, these lights look spectacular wrapping around the entire racecourse, making night races absolutely brilliant at Southwell.

This is definitely one of our favourite flood lit horse racing venues out there.

Check out our in-depth guide to Southwell Race course for more information on tickets, fixtures and betting opportunities.

Lingfield Race Course

Lingfield is historically such a unique track for being the only one in the UK to host both flat and national hunt races on it’s turf, but it’s also unique as it’s one of the few floodlit tracks in the country, too.

The floodlights at Lingfield look brilliant in the evening, and add an extra layer of atmosphere to this already special location.

So whether you’re a racing fan, or simply fancy a good evening out, Lingfield’s floodlit racecourse is a great choice.

Check out our in-depth guide to Lingfield Race course for more information on tickets, fixtures and betting opportunities.

Wolverhampton Course

The floodlights at Wolverhampton racecourse light up the all-weather championships at this terrific racing venue, enabling evening events to take place.

The floodlights themselves were fitted as part of a 1993 renovation of the entire venue, which is now known to be a brilliant racecourse to attend regardless of your interest in the sport.

Be sure to check this one out if you’re looking for a floodlit racecourse in the West Midlands area.

Additionally, check out our in-depth guide to Woverhampton Race course for more information on tickets, fixtures and betting opportunities.

Kempton Park

Kempton Park is another example of a floodlit racecourse here in the UK, located in Middlesex.

Opening back in 1978, it wasn’t until 2006 that the new floodlighting was fitted to accommodate for evening races, as well as it’s state-of-the-art synthetic turf track to ensure racing can carry on all year round.

As a result of it’s renovations and convenient location, Kempton Park has become a popular racing venue for many throughout the United Kingdom, with race-goers flocking year in and year out to watch the races here.

Check out our in-depth guide to Kempton Park race course for more information on tickets, fixtures and betting opportunities.

Dundalk Race Course

Dundalk racecourse, also known a Dundalk stadium, is a horse racing and greyhound racing venue located in Dundalk, Ireland.

Just like all the other racecourses on this list, the floodlighting was fitted in order to ensure racing events can take place in the evenings as well as in the day.

Dundalk Stadium has now become a go-to location in Ireland when it comes to both the horse racing and the greyhound racing, with thousands attending each year to watch the racing here.

Check out our in-depth guide to Dandalk Race course for more information on tickets, fixtures and betting opportunities.

Chelmsford City Race Course

Chelmsford City race course, first known as Great Leighs racecourse, is located in Essex, and hosts racing at all times of the day as a result of its excellent floodlit course.

This racing venue is a very new venue by horse racing standards, opening in April 2008.

Since then, partly as a result of its innovative floodlighting, race-goers have been enjoying attending this racecourse ever since.

Check out our in-depth guide to Chelmsford City Race course for more information on tickets, fixtures and betting opportunities.

Newcastle Race Course

And last but not least, we’ve got Newcastle racecourse.

Newcastle was a popular race course prior to its floodlighting being fitted, but since then, fans have had the luxury of being able to watch races at this course in the evenings, too.

This is a fantastic venue for anyone looking for a fun and lively day out, and because of it’s floodlighting, the day doesn’t need to be cut short, either.
