Day 1 of the Derby Festival takes place on Friday 31st May 2024.
The first day, sometimes referred to as Ladies’ Day, is unlike any other day. It’s a Derby tradition, best dressed and summer elegant. Spectacular racing, including The Betfred Oaks, one of Britain’s five classic races, can be enjoyed.
The Group 1 Betfred Oaks, the day’s highlight race for fillies alone, is raced over the same course and distance as the Derby and Coronation Cup. These three contests are a part of the Triple Crown for fillies, which also includes the Ladbrokes St. Leger and the Newmarket-based QIPCO 1000 Guineas.
On day one, the gates open at 11 am, and the first race starts at 2 pm.

The Woodcote Stakes is the first race on Day One of the Derby Festival.
It is a flat horse race open to horses aged two.

Race 3 of day 1 is the Coronation Cup.
