Punchestown Festival Day Four Racing

The 4th day of horse racing at the Punchestown Festival takes place on Friday, April 29th 2022.

Here are all the races taking place on the 4th day of the Punchestown Festival and our Punchestown tips.

Punchestown Chase For The Bishopscourt Cup

The 1st race takes place at 3:40 pm and is the Punchestown Chase For The Bishopscourt Cup race.

The opening Hunter chase is an open affair, we think that Alpha Male will be suited by the race conditions and can score. Imitation Game could give him something to worry about.

  • WIN – Alpha Male
  • EW – Imitation Game

Alpha Male looks a good option and can score in the Hunter Chase.

EMS Copiers Novice Handicap Chase (Grade A)

The 2nd race takes place at 4:15 pm and is the EMS Copiers Novice Handicap Chase (Grade A) race.

A big field and a tight handicap chase. Fighter Allen will be popular but a chance is taken on Busselton for Joseph O’Brien.

  • WIN – Busselton
  • EW- El Barra

Buuselton is a tough and consistent horse, he can cap a good season in this tight handicap.

Hanlon Concrete Irish EBF Mares Chase (Grade 2)

The 3rd race takes place at 4:50 pm and is the Hanlon Concrete Irish EBF Mares Chase (Grade 2) race.

A small field for the Mares Chase, Mullins is always strong in this department and his Cheltenham winner Elimay can take the win.

  • WIN – Elimay

Elimay deserved her Cheltenham win, she can pack a big finish and grab the victory.

Paddy Power Champion Hurdle (Grade 1)

The 4th race takes place at 5:25 pm and is the Paddy Power Champion Hurdle (Grade 1) race.

All eyes are on the Queen of National Hunt racing – Honeysuckle. She is un-opposable and will bring the curtain down on a great season, and the house down at Punchestown racecourse.

  • WIN – Honeysuckle
  • EW – Saint Roi

The Queen of the Jumps, Honeysuckle is a cut above these – granted a safe passage she can’t be beaten.

Champion Novice Hurdle (Grade 1)

The 5th race takes place at 6:00 pm and is the Champion Novice Hurdle (Grade 1) race.

From the current Champion to a field of future stars, there is a galaxy to choose from. We expect State Man to win and Kilcruit to run a stormer. Flame Bearer is an improver and is not out of it.

  • WIN – State Man
  • EW – Flame Bearer

State Man has a touch of class but Kilcruit will make a race of it. It is difficult to say how good Flame Bearer could be at this stage.

Irish Daily Star Champion Hunters Chase

The 6th race takes place at 6:35 pm and is the Irish Daily Star Champion Hunters Chase race.

Another Hunter Chase, with Cheltenham champion Billaway looking hard to oppose. Vaucelet is his only danger and there won’t be much in it.

WIN – Billaway

A cracking race and difficult to split the top two in the betting, we think Billaway will outstay Vaucelet.

Salessense International Novice Hurdle

The 7th race takes place at 7:10 pm and is the Salessense International Novice Hurdle race.

A tight novice hurdle could again go the way of Mullins, El Fabiolo has form in the bank and also the potential to improve more. He is a confident choice. Micro Manage could outrun his run odds.

  • WIN – El Faboilo
  • EW – Micro Manage

El Fabiolo is unexposed and could be another super-star in the Mullins camp.

Avison Young INH Flat Race

The 8th race takes place at 7:45 pm and is the Avison Young INH Flat Race.

The final race could again go to Mullins, this time with Don Chalant. Runner up on his last two starts, he will be fit and ready for this. Golded Warrior is lightly raced and has potential.

  • WIN – Don Chalant
  • EW – Golden Warrior

Don Chalant can keep the Mullins bandwagon rolling, he is impossible to look past.
