Rathbarry And Glenview Studs Hurdle 2023 Result

Here is the previous result for the Rathbarry And Glenview Studs Hurdle.

Famous Rathbarry And Glenview Studs Hurdle Winners

The Rathbarry And Glenview Studs Hurdle was first run in 2011, with victory going to Voler La Vedette, trained by Colm Murphy and ridden by Andrew Lynch. The following year the race was won by Get Me Out Of Here, trained in England by Jonjo O’Neill and ridden by Tony McCoy. The win was well-deserved after the gelding had finished second in the Relkeel Hurdle, Betfair Hurdle, and Coral Cup. He finished runner-up in the competitive Coral Cup for a second time in 2014, when beaten a short-head by Whisper.

Get Me Out Of Here was also runner-up here in 2014 behind stable companion Thousand Stars. The front-running grey had won the County Hurdle under Katie Walsh in 2010 and was a Grade 1 winner in France. Ruby Walsh rode him to win a valuable race at Auteuil in 2011, and the combination repeated the feat the following season.

2021 winner Stormy Ireland has been another good money-spinner for the Mullins stable. Her victories include the Grade 1 Mares Champion Hurdle at Punchestown and the Grade 2 Relkeel Hurdle at Cheltenham. The latest Mullins representative to claim this prize was Asterion Forlonge, a talented enigmatic performer over fences. He unseated his rider when looking a real danger to Allaho in the Punchestown Chase and then fell when in second place in the 2021 King George.

Key Rathbarry And Glenview Studs Hurdle Trials

There are no obvious trial races for this event and only two of the last eleven winners had been successful last time out. Seven of them had already won at least once at Grade 1-3 level. Four of the eleven ran at the Punchestown Festival but only Stormy Ireland (2021) was successful. Three of them ran in the Stayers Hurdle at the next Cheltenham Festival but all were beaten.

There have only been two winning outright favourites in the past eleven seasons; Dedigout (2015) at 2-1 and Asterion Forlonge (2023) at 11-8. Stormy Ireland (2021) returned the 7-2 joint-favourite and there have been six winning second favourites. Only two winners did not feature in the first three in the betting; Coquin Mans (2018) at 7-1 and Rashaan (2019) at 16-1. There is no real age bias in this event with winners ranging from six (Dressedtothenines in 2013 and Coquin Mans) to ten (Thousand Stars).
