Scottish jockey Daniel “Danny” Tudhope, born on December 1, 1985, is a group 1 winning jockey. He is David O’Meara’s stable jockey, for whom he has won the majority of his important races.
As part of a scheme to encourage young riders to compete around Europe, he participated in his first professional ride in 2003 and won his first race at San Rossore, Pisa, Italy, in October of that same year.
He is currently the jockey for businessman Steve Parkin, and he must drop 3 pounds every morning to get down to his riding weight of 8 st 11 lb.

Jockey Profile of Daniel Tudhope
Daniel Tudhope graduated from the Northern Racing College and was an apprentice to trainer Declan Carroll.
He started riding under rules in 2003 and rode his first UK winner at Southwell in 2004.
He has remained based in the north, earning a reputation as a tough and reliable rider.
In recent seasons he has emerged as a genuine contender for the champion jockeys’ title.
Daniel Tudhope – Key Jockey Stats
Daniel Tudhope cracked the century of winners in a season for the first time in 2013.
The following year he won over £1 million in prize money with 110 winners.
He had his best season to date in 2019 when riding 159 winners, narrowly losing out to Oisin Murphy in the jockeys’ championship.
He rode four winners at Royal Ascot in the same season and passed the 1000 mark for career wins.
Daniel Tudhope’s Big Race Wins
Tudhope’s first significant victory came aboard Look Busy for Alan Berry in the Listed Land O’ Burns Fillies Stakes at Ayr in 2008.
He later joined the stable of David O’Meara and won his first Group race aboard Blue Bajan in the Group 2 Henry II Stakes at Sandown in 2011. The following season he won the Bet365 Mile and the Joel Stakes on stable flagbearer Penitent.
He won both races again with Custom Cut and made the breakthrough at Group 1 level with G Force in the 2014 Haydock Sprint Cup.
He later added the Prix de l’Abbaye aboard Move In Time.
In 2016 he won the prestigious Arlington Million on Mondialiste and the following year the Shadwell Turf Mile on Suedois.
He also rode the popular Laurens to victory in the 2018 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket.
Daniel Tudhope’s Most Famous Victories
The Haydock Sprint Cup victory on G Force will always be a fond memory for Tudhope, his first victory at the highest level. David O’Meara’s talented sprinter had shown promising form behind Take Cover at York and Sandown before finishing an unlucky sixth in the Nunthorpe Stakes. Tudhope produced his mount with a perfectly timed challenge at the furlong pole to beat Gordon Lord Byron by three-quarters of a length.
Laurens was one of the most popular mares in training. Karl Burke’s daughter of Siyouni finished runner-up in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket before winning twice in France.
Tudhope rode her to win the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown before following up in the Sun Chariot Stakes. He needed to be at his strongest to repel the persistent challenge of Happily by a head.
