Here are our tips for day one racing for the Qatar Glorious Goodwood Festival on Saturday.

British EBF Maiden Stakes

The British European Breeders’ Fund EBF Maiden, a 7-furlong race for two-year-old colts and geldings, kicks off day five at Glorious Goodwood.

Titan Rock won the 2020 renewal, while Imperial Fighter, who finished a comfortable winner for Andrew Balding under a great ride from Oisin Murphy, won the most recent renewal. Both horses won with 9/1 odds.

Stewards’ Sprint Handicap

The Coral Steward’s Sprint Handicap serves as a substitute for the Stewards’ Cup. Horses that didn’t qualify for that race over the same six-furlong distance.

Mr. Wagyu, who started out at odds of 16/1, beat out 33/1 second-place finisher Able Kane to win the renewal the previous year.

Summer Handicap Stakes

On the final day of Glorious Goodwood, there is a highly valued and competitive race called the Coral Summer Handicap.

This 1m6f race, which is worth a stunning £100,000 and will test the field’s class and stamina, is often quite competitive. Three years old and older may participate in the race.

Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes

On Day 5 of Glorious Goodwood, there is a highly important Group 2 race called the Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes, which was first held in 2003.

The event, which lasts one mile and six furlongs, is accessible to fillies and mares.

Stewards’ Cup

The Stewards’ Cup, the highlight race on Day 5 of Glorious Goodwood, is a competitive and exciting event every year.

One of the greatest betting events and most prestigious handicaps of the flat season, featuring a field of up to 28 runners who sprint across the Downs over a distance of six lengths. Horses aged 3 and older can participate in this race.

Mr. Wagyu, the Stewards’ Sprint Handicap champion from the previous year, is the current favourite.

Medallia Handicap Stakes

For three-year-old horses rated between 86-105, the Medallia Handicap, paying £35,000 is over seven furlongs.

This Class 2 race, which only accepts three-year-olds, has a 20-runner cap and frequently produces unexpected results.

Singleton Handicap Handicap

On Day 5, the Singleton Handicap race completes Glorious Goodwood 2026.

The grand finale is just over a mile long and is only for horses three years old and older.

This Class 3 race, which is worth £30,000, features runners rated 76 to 95, making it a predictably difficult event.
