All Weather Courses

In the UK, all-weather racing is mainly held at Lingfield, Kempton, Southwell, and Wolverhampton, with another course at Dundalk in Ireland.

Not all races occur on the all-weather tracks at Lingfield, Kempton, and Southwell.

Each track has unique characteristics, so relying on the same results across tracks isn’t always possible.

Lingfield, Kempton, and Wolverhampton have similar Polytrack surfaces, while Southwell’s Fibresand is deeper and better suited to some horses.

The soft ground form is thought to work well at Southwell, but it’s not always the case.

What We Look For When Selecting All Weather Betting Tips

When making selections on races in the UK, there are a few key aspects we look out for.

Here are some factors our expert tipsters are looking for when picking their all-weather horse racing betting tips.

Course

All-weather tracks can produce vastly different results, making it valuable to compare horses’ track records and bet on their potential improvement or decline when switching tracks.

For instance, forgiving a poor run at one track and backing a horse that has run well before can be a successful strategy.

Track Bias

Despite being all-weather tracks, extreme weather conditions can still impact the surfaces, favouring front runners or hold-up horses.

The way a track is ploughed can even affect the final results.

Observing the run styles of the day and backing the most likely winners from the favoured run styles can be profitable.

Breeding

If you are uncertain about a horse’s ability to perform well on the all-weather track based on its turf form, checking the record of previous all-weather winners can be a helpful indicator.

While it is not a guarantee, it can provide valuable insight into a horse’s potential performance.

Class Of Race

Many races are class 4 or below on the all-weather track, and some horses may have winning streaks.

However, it is important to consider the race’s class, as a horse’s streak may end when they face better horses and higher weight in a higher-class race.

Losing by 2 lengths in a class 2 handicap on the all-weather track can be better formed than winning a class 4 handicap, and the horse that lost may not have a handicap increase.

Draw

A low draw is generally preferred for all-weather races, as most races are run around a bend, but draw bias is insignificant in smaller fields.

A high draw can be a disadvantage in bigger fields, particularly in races over 7f and 10f at Lingfield, where the draw bias can be significant.

However, a low draw in a big field can also be a problem for a hold-up horse, making a draw of around 4 preferable.
