The 2027 Grand National takes place at Aintree on Saturday 10 April. Grand National betting offers can include extra each-way places, non-runner no bet, free bets, Best Odds Guaranteed and selected money-back promotions. The terms depend on the bookmaker and the market in which you place your bet.
Bookmakers often introduce Grand National promotions at different stages of the build-up. Ante-post markets can open well before the race, while extra-place and race-day offers may appear closer to the final declarations.
The headline offer is only part of the comparison. A bookmaker offering more each-way places may use a smaller place fraction. A money-back promotion may return free bet credits rather than cash. An early price may also come with different non-runner terms from a bet placed nearer race day.
British Racecourses explains the offers and betting conditions that matter when comparing bookmakers for the Grand National. We do not list an expired promotion as a current offer or assume that a bookmaker will repeat its previous year’s terms.
Grand National Betting Offers for 2027
The main Grand National betting promotions fall into several categories.
| Betting Offer | What It Means | What to Check |
|---|---|---|
| Non-runner no bet | A qualifying stake is returned if the horse does not run | Market eligibility and the date the offer starts |
| Extra places | More finishing positions qualify for the place part of an each-way bet | Number of places, place fraction and win odds |
| Best Odds Guaranteed | A qualifying winning bet is settled at the bigger of the price taken and the official starting price | Eligible markets, qualifying times and exclusions |
| Free bets | Betting credits are awarded under a promotion | Minimum odds, expiry and whether the free bet stake is returned |
| Faller insurance | A qualifying refund is awarded if the horse falls or meets another covered outcome | Covered outcomes, maximum refund and whether it is cash or credit |
| Enhanced odds | A boosted price is offered on a specified selection | Maximum stake and how any winnings are paid |
| Bet and get | A qualifying bet triggers a promotional reward | Qualifying stake, odds, settlement and reward expiry |
These are types of offers, not a claim that every bookmaker has made them available for the 2027 Grand National. Check the current promotion and its full terms before betting.
For current prices rather than promotional terms, see our Grand National betting odds page.
Grand National Non-Runner No Bet Offers
Non-runner no bet, often shortened to NRNB, is particularly relevant before the Grand National field is confirmed.
A horse can appear in the ante-post betting without being guaranteed a place in the race. Its connections may withdraw it, or it may fail to make the final field.
Under an ordinary ante-post bet, the stake generally loses if the horse does not run. A qualifying non-runner, no bet wager returns the stake if the selection does not take part, subject to the bookmaker’s terms.
The distinction matters when comparing an early price with a price offered closer to race day.
When Does Non-Runner No Bet Start?
Bookmakers can introduce NRNB at different times and may apply it to selected races or markets.
A bookmaker offering NRNB today does not mean that an ordinary ante-post bet placed earlier receives the same protection.
Check the market shown on the bet slip. If it does not explicitly state that the bet qualifies for non-runner, no bet, do not assume the protection applies.
Does NRNB Cover a Horse That Falls?
No. A horse that starts the race and falls is not a non-runner.
The same applies to a horse that unseats its rider, is brought down or is pulled up after the start. Those outcomes are settled under the relevant betting rules unless a separate qualifying promotion applies.
Our Grand National runners and riders page explains how the field develops before the final declarations.
Grand National Extra Places Offers
Extra-place promotions increase the number of finishing positions that qualify for the place part of an each-way bet.
An each-way bet consists of two equal stakes: one on the horse to win and one on it to finish in a paid place.
For a handicap with 16 or more runners, standard each-way terms are four places at one-quarter of the odds. Bookmakers may offer additional Grand National places, sometimes at one-fifth of the odds.
An extra-place market can pay a qualifying bet on a horse finishing fifth or sixth when an ordinary four-place market would not.
However, the number of places is not the only consideration.
How to Compare Grand National Each-Way Places
Consider a ยฃ10 each-way bet at 20/1. The total stake is ยฃ20.
Under four-place terms at one-quarter of the odds, the place part is settled at 5/1. If the horse finishes fourth, the place part returns ยฃ60, including its ยฃ10 stake. The win part loses, leaving a ยฃ40 net profit on the full bet.
Under six-place terms at one-fifth of the odds, the place part is settled at 4/1. A fourth-place finish returns ยฃ50, leaving a ยฃ30 net profit on the full ยฃ20 bet.
The six-place market also covers fifth and sixth, which the four-place market does not.
These examples show why a bookmaker offering more places does not necessarily provide a bigger return for every placed horse.
Our Grand National each-way places page explains the calculations in more detail.
Do Extra Places Apply to Every Each-Way Bet?
Not necessarily. A bookmaker may offer extra places through a separate promotional market.
The ordinary race market and the extra-place market can have different win odds and place fractions. They may also have different conditions for non-runners or the number of horses that start.
Check the terms displayed for the selected market before placing the bet.
Our extra-place betting sites page covers the wider features to compare.
Grand National Best Odds Guaranteed
Best Odds Guaranteed, or BOG, is a promotion that can settle a qualifying winning bet at the bigger of the early price taken and the official starting price.
For example, a bettor takes 10/1 on a horse that wins at an SP of 14/1. If the bet qualifies for BOG, it can be settled at 14/1.
If the horse starts at 8/1 instead, the qualifying bet retains the earlier 10/1 price.
BOG is not a universal condition of horse racing bets. Bookmakers set their own eligibility rules, qualifying times and exclusions.
Ordinary ante-post bets are generally excluded. Enhanced odds, extra-place markets and bets funded with promotional credit may also have separate conditions.
A bookmaker’s general BOG feature should not be treated as a confirmed Grand National promotion unless the race and selected market qualify.
Our Best Odds Guaranteed guide explains how the offer works.
Grand National Free Bet Offers
Grand National free bets may be offered to new customers or eligible existing customers.
A promotion can require a qualifying deposit, a cash bet at specified odds or another action before the reward is awarded.
The amount advertised is not necessarily the amount a customer can withdraw. Free bets are normally betting credits that must be used in accordance with the promotion’s terms.
Do Free Bet Winnings Include the Stake?
Free bet stakes are commonly excluded from returns.
For example, a ยฃ10 free bet at 5/1 would return ยฃ50 in winnings if successful when the free bet stake is not returned.
A ยฃ10 cash bet at the same odds would return ยฃ60, including the original stake.
The distinction affects the value of a promotion, particularly when comparing free bet credits with a cash refund.
Can Existing Customers Get Grand National Free Bets?
Some promotions are available to existing customers, while others are restricted to new accounts or selected customers.
An existing-customer offer may require activation before the qualifying bet is placed. It may also have an expiry date or be available only through a particular market.
Check eligibility in the bookmaker account rather than assuming that every advertised promotion applies.
Our horse racing free bets page explains welcome offers, betting credits and their settlement rules.
Grand National Faller Insurance
Faller insurance is a promotional refund that some bookmakers offer on selected horse races.
The qualifying conditions vary. One promotion may cover a horse that falls, while another may also cover an unseated rider or a horse brought down by another runner.
These are different outcomes, so the wording of the offer matters.
A horse that is pulled up or finishes outside the paid places is not automatically covered by faller insurance.
Is Faller Insurance Paid in Cash?
A refund can be paid in cash or free bet credit, depending on the promotion.
There may also be a maximum qualifying stake, a minimum price or restrictions on the bet type.
For example, an offer might refund only the win part of an each-way bet, while another may have different conditions. The full terms determine the amount and form of any refund.
Faller insurance does not make a Grand National bet risk-free. It covers only the outcomes specified by the bookmaker.
Our Grand National fallers page explains falls, unseated riders and other non-finishing outcomes.
Grand National Enhanced Odds
An enhanced-odds promotion increases the available price on a specified horse or betting market.
The offer may have a low maximum stake or be available only to new or selected existing customers.
Some promotions pay winnings at the ordinary price in cash and award the additional boosted amount as free bet credit. Others use different settlement terms.
A headline price should therefore be assessed alongside the maximum stake and the type of return.
For example, an enhanced price available for a maximum ยฃ1 stake is not directly comparable with an ordinary price available for a ยฃ20 stake.
Check the eligible selection, qualifying market and settlement conditions before placing the bet.
Grand National Bet and Get Offers
A bet and get promotion awards a reward after a qualifying bet has been placed and, where required, settled.
The reward is often free bet credit.
The qualifying bet may need to meet a minimum stake and minimum odds. The bookmaker may also specify when the bet must be placed and whether it must be settled before the reward is issued.
A Grand National bet does not automatically qualify for a bookmaker’s general welcome offer.
Check whether the promotion includes ante-post bets, each-way bets and the particular market you intend to use.
Grand National Money-Back Offers
Money-back promotions provide a refund when a specified outcome occurs.
A bookmaker may offer a qualifying refund if a horse finishes in a particular position or fails to complete the race in a covered way.
The refund might be paid in cash or betting credit. It may also be subject to a maximum amount.
Terms such as โno loseโ or โrisk-freeโ should not replace a reading of the actual conditions. A promotion may cover only a narrow outcome, and betting credits can have expiry dates and restrictions.
A cash refund and a free bet refund have different values because a free bet stake is commonly excluded from winnings.
Which Bookmakers Can You Compare for Grand National Offers?
British Racecourses covers established horse racing bookmakers including bet365, William Hill, Betfred, BoyleSports, BetVictor, Ladbrokes and Coral.
The relevant comparison depends on the offer actually available for the Grand National. A bookmaker may provide competitive win odds without running an extra-place promotion. Another may offer additional places but use a smaller place fraction.
A bookmaker’s usual app features, live streaming service or general welcome promotion should not be described as a Grand National-specific offer unless its terms apply to the race.
For a wider comparison of bookmaker features, see our horse racing betting sites page.
bet365 Grand National Offers
bet365 provides horse racing betting markets, including ante-post and race-day betting where available.
When comparing a Grand National promotion at bet365, check whether it applies to the ordinary win market, a separate each-way market or a qualifying account offer.
A general bet365 promotion should not be assumed to apply to the Grand National without checking its terms.
Our bet365 horse racing guide covers its wider racing features.
William Hill Grand National Offers
William Hill is another bookmaker to include when comparing Grand National prices and promotions.
Check the win odds alongside any qualifying each-way terms, non-runner protection and account-specific offers.
An extra-place promotion and an ordinary each-way market may have different conditions, so compare the actual bet slip rather than relying on the headline number of places.
Betfred Grand National Offers
Betfred’s Grand National markets can be compared for win prices, each-way terms and any qualifying promotions.
Check whether an advertised offer is available to new customers, existing customers or selected accounts.
If a promotion awards free bet credit, review the expiry and stake-return conditions before comparing it with a cash offer.
BoyleSports Grand National Offers
BoyleSports is relevant to readers comparing Grand National ante-post and race-day markets.
Check whether non-runner protection applies to the selected market and whether any advertised extra-place terms require a separate bet slip.
The odds and place fraction should be assessed together.
BetVictor Grand National Offers
BetVictor’s Grand National prices can be compared with other bookmakers alongside any qualifying promotional terms.
Check whether an offer applies to a win bet, an each-way bet or a specific enhanced-odds market.
A boosted price may have a maximum stake or a different settlement method from the ordinary market.
Ladbrokes Grand National Offers
Ladbrokes can be included in a Grand National comparison for its available prices and qualifying promotions.
For each-way betting, check the number of paid places and the place fraction. For an early bet, check whether the selected market includes non-runner protection.
Do not assume that a promotion from a previous Grand National will be repeated in 2027.
Coral Grand National Offers
Coral’s Grand National markets can be assessed for win odds, each-way terms and any published promotions.
Check the eligible market and whether the offer is available to the account placing the bet.
If the promotion includes a refund, establish whether it is paid in cash or betting credit.
Grand National Betting Apps
A betting app can make it easier to check prices and place bets away from a desktop computer, but app availability is not itself a Grand National promotion.
When comparing apps for the race, consider whether the bet slip clearly displays the selected market, each-way terms and any promotion applied to the bet.
Some promotions may be available only through an app or require activation in the account. The bookmaker’s terms will specify those conditions.
Our horse racing betting apps page compares mobile-specific features rather than repeating the general bookmaker comparison.
Watching the Grand National Live
Watching the race and placing a bet are separate decisions.
The Grand National is broadcast in the UK, and some bookmakers may also provide live streaming to eligible customers.
Streaming access can depend on account status, location, the event and any qualifying betting or funding conditions.
A live stream should not be described as a betting offer unless it forms part of a specific published promotion.
Check the broadcaster’s schedule or the bookmaker’s streaming conditions before race day.
How to Compare Grand National Promotions
The most useful offer depends on the bet you intend to place.
For a win bet, compare the available price and any qualifying price guarantee.
For an each-way bet, compare the win odds, paid places and place fraction together.
For an early ante-post bet, establish what happens if the horse does not run. A bigger ordinary ante-post price and a shorter NRNB price carry different risks.
For a free bet or refund promotion, calculate the potential cash return and account for any credit that cannot be withdrawn.
An offer should be assessed on its complete terms rather than its headline amount.

No. NRNB concerns a horse that does not start. Faller insurance concerns specified outcomes after the horse has started.
How many each-way places are paid in the Grand National?
Standard terms for a handicap with at least 16 runners are four places at one-quarter of the odds. Bookmakers may offer additional places under different terms.

Ordinary ante-post bets are generally excluded. Check the terms of the selected bookmaker and market.
Are Grand National free bets available to existing customers?
Some are. Eligibility depends on the promotion and the customer’s account.

Does faller insurance cover an unseated rider?
Only if the offer explicitly includes that outcome.
Can I combine a free bet with an extra-place promotion?
That depends on the bookmaker’s terms. Some promotions exclude bets funded with free bet credit or bets placed in other promotional markets.
Where can I compare Grand National prices?
Our Grand National betting odds page explains how to compare win prices, ante-post markets and each-way terms.
Summary
Grand National betting offers should be compared using the terms attached to the actual bet.
Non-runner no bet addresses the risk of a horse failing to start. Extra places change the finishing positions covered by an each-way bet. Best Odds Guaranteed, free bets, enhanced odds and money-back promotions have separate eligibility and settlement conditions.
The 2027 Grand National takes place on Saturday 10 April. Compare current bookmaker prices and published terms rather than relying on promotions from previous renewals.
