Although the race was only introduced in 1998, it has already produced four dual winners; Vita Spericolata (2001, 2002), Green Manalishi (2007, 2008), Kimberella (2017, 2018) and Judicial (2020, 2021). Other notable winners include Tedburrow (1999), Doncaster Rover (2009) and Ebro River (2022).

Famous Queensferry Stakes Winners
The Queensferry Stakes was first run in 1998 with victory going to Likely Story, trained by John Dunlop and ridden by Seb Sanders. The race quickly became established as a target for high-class handicappers looking to step up in class
Popular sprinters Tedburrow and Yorkies Boy won in 1999 and 2000 before Vita Spericolata became the first dual winner of the race. The mare won five of her 63 career starts and went close to completing a hat-trick in this race in 2003. She was runner-up to Resplendent Cee, beaten only three-quarters of a length.
Green Manalishi also won in consecutive seasons in 2007 and 2008 for Trainer Kevin Ryan. Kimberella repeated the feat in 2017 and 2018 for Richard Fahey with Judicial the most recent two-time winner in 2020 and 2021. Judicial’s victories were also notable for coming late in his career. He won as an eight-year-old and became the oldest winner in the history of the race when scoring as a nine-year-old.
2022 winner Ebro River had been a Group 1 winner in the Phoenix Stakes as a two-year-old. He had lost his form as a three-year-old but was lit up by the first-time blinkers at Chester to win well for Hugo Palmer and Ben Curtis.

Two previous winners have come from the July Cup; Eastern Impact in 2015 and Major Jumbo in 2019.
There have been three winning outright favourites and one successful joint-favourite in the last ten seasons.
Eastern Impact (2015), Major Jumbo (2019) and Judicial (2020) all started market leader with Ebro River winning as the 5-2 joint-favourite in 2022.
The longest-priced winner during the same period was Intransigent for Andrew Balding in 2014. There is no age bias in the Queensferry Stakes with horses winning from age three through to nine.
